Children’s Choir
Children’s Choir
First: Singing! Students will learn to match pitches, learn to sing with freedom and learn to sing with proper breath support and posture. Quality music of many styles and from many different times in history will be performed.
Second: Music education will be a strong component of this choir program. Children will learn to identify notes, rhythms and other musical symbols. Harmony will be introduced.
Third: Other instrumentation! Singers will have the opportunity to play rhythm instruments, chimes, etc. at different times throughout the year.
Fourth: Praise and Worship! Students will be involved in worship and will be taught concepts of worship and the significance of praise. We will discuss why we worship, who we worship, when we worship and attitudes appropriate to worship.
Fifth: Musical Outreach! Whenever possible, we will take our music “on the road” as an outreach in our community and as an opportunity to be witnesses outside of our own walls.
Grace Evangelical Free Church Children’s Choir Program
Will involve a number of components.
Choir Policies
1. Any child of the appropriate age (1st - 6th Graders) is welcome to participate in the choir program, as long as they have the consent of their parent or guardian and they and their parent or guardian agree to abide by policies and guidelines established for the benefit of all.
2. Respect and consideration are the trademarks of conduct for singers and leaders alike. Disrespect and unloving conduct will not be tolerated. It is important for a choir to work together. We will work hard to develop a cooperative and caring community.
3. Parent involvement is important and expected. There are many areas of responsibility that need to be taken care of by someone other than the director, if this program is going to be the most beneficial to the singers involved. This ministry will succeed and grow in direct proportion to the involvement of the parents.
4. Regular attendance is expected. Attendance of at least 75% of all rehearsals is required in order for singers to perform in major concerts/events.
5. Attendance is required for “dress rehearsals” in order for a singer to perform.
6. We will expect singers to be in their seats and ready at the scheduled rehearsal time. Tardiness only infringes on the constructive time of everyone else.
